Aqua Employee Spotlight Summer Wright
Summer, it’s not just the time of year when people hit the beach and schools are out of session, it’s also the name of Aqua’s newest account executive, Summer Wright. And you’d be wrong to assume Ms. Wright is just a charismatic and stellar account executive. She’s also an entrepreneur, an avid sports fan (loves playing tennis and golf) and possesses numerous hidden talents that surprise her coworkers every day – most recently revealing she’s played the drums since seventh grade. However, like all stories of humble greatness, this one starts with even greater humble beginnings.

Summer Wright graduated from Auburn University where she studied public relations and Spanish. To say she is still a diehard fan of all things Auburn would be an understatement. Clichés aside, her love for her alma mater runs deep. Her father and brother also graduated from Auburn and when asked about the university’s greatest competitor, the University of Alabama, let’s just say Summer’s comments were not fit to print.

Following graduation, Summer lived in Spain working as an au pair before moving to Jacksonville, Florida to begin her account management career at the Dalton Agency. It was here that she honed her skills for destination marketing and advertising with the Jacksonville CVB as one of her first clients. This skillset eventually took her back to her home state of Alabama where she worked as an account executive for Luckie & Company. Not only did Summer manage the State of Alabama tourism account, but she also saw them through the 2010 BP Oil Spill crisis that made national news.

After leaving Luckie & Company, Summer set out on her own to open a chain of sip and paint studios called Yes You Canvas, running the flagship location for seven years in Orlando, FL. However, missing the fast-paced and creative world of advertising, Summer decided to return to a role as an account manager for an agency specializing in tourism marketing. Today, Summer brings her sunny personality and exceptional account management skills to Aqua.

Outside of work, Summer enjoys pursuing her many and varied interests, including salsa dancing, competing in an adult cornhole league, attending Michael Bublé concerts and evening water skiing. For those interested in starting a career in marketing, Summer’s advice is that your constant roadblocks and dead ends are actually opportunities and your day will never be what you expect it to be. She also advised that if you’re ever in the Auburn area, check out Proud Willie’s Wings and Stuff for a sub sandwich containing fried chicken, ranch dressing and cheesy tots. Here at Aqua, we think both pieces of advice are equally important.
