Aqua Employee Spotlight: Britt Chapman

As the managing director for PR at Aqua, Britt Chapman does much more than public relations, including account management and creative campaign strategy.

Before Britt was managing clients, media, and fellow PR professionals, she attended Florida State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in international affairs. Also, it’s where she met her husband. Anyway, the connection between sociology and public relations may not seem like an obvious one, but both rely on understanding different types of people, navigating the relationships between them, and studying what drives individuals and groups to make decisions. Britt feels her sociology background not only gives her an advantage when creating ways to reach an audience, but helps her have exceptional interactions with clients, media, and colleagues. And as her coworkers, we have to agree.

The strong relationships she’s built over the better part of the past decade have helped her advance her career. From her first marketing job with a small real estate agency to one of the state’s premier PR firms, and finally to the managing director, for PR at Aqua Marketing & Communications. Along the way she’s worked with a number of high-profile destinations and national brands. Britt’s incredible performance as a PR professional allowed her to work with popular tourist destinations such as the Caribbean Island of Aruba and Visit Park City, Utah, as well as major hotels such as Hard Rock Hotels All-Inclusive Hotels and Eden Roc Miami Beach. She’s brought her invaluable knowledge to brands such as Spanx, LuMee, and DIFF Eyewear. Through her PR strategies, Britt has secured client coverage with major publications, including Condé Nast, Travel & Leisure, USA Today, Southern Living, New York Daily News, and Brides.

Britt fell in love with public relations and the marketing industry in part because she loves people. She’s also fascinated by the creativity and innovation not only found in marketing, but prevalent in the best public relation’s initiatives. For Britt, there’s no one way to execute a PR campaign. From promotions to media experiences, PR is flexible in how it is approached, and Britt loves being creative with all types of PR efforts. For example, Britt has flawlessly executed activations for national brands at ESPN’s ESPY awards and the Sundance Film Festival. Perhaps most notably, Britt’s proven track record of success led her to supervise the filming of a nationally televised ABC program at a foreign client location.

When she’s not leading the PR team at Aqua, or developing some innovative PR strategy, Britt enjoys spending time with her family and pursuing her passion as an amateur photographer. As a Florida native, Britt loves getting on the water, taking out the boat, and doing a little fishing (just ask her how she landed a pompano without a pole, net, or anything else).
